Couple traditionsStart traditions when it’s just you and your spouse and you’ll have plenty of sweet traditions to enjoy and share when you have children. If this is your first Christmas as a married couple, you may want to incorporate each of your family’s past traditions but you should also start your own. Here are some ideas to get you going!

Watching a classic holiday film: Every Christmas Eve, cuddle up with your hubby and watch your favorite holiday flick together. Grab a blanket, some hot cocoa and maybe some snacks!

Christmas lights drive: After the first snow falls, take a drive together around town and look at all the Christmas lights.

Baking cookies: You’ll undoubtedly do this when you have children but make it a tradition now and enjoy each other in the kitchen!

Special ornaments: Every Christmas Eve, give each other a special ornament. It could be a landmark from a recent trip you took, a symbol of your love or a monogramed ornament. Do this every year and you’ll have plenty of memories on that tree for years to come.

Christmas plays: Every year, plan a day to go see a Christmas play together, such as A Christmas Carol, and grab dinner afterwards.

Give back: Give back together! Host a fundraising event or volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Decorate the tree: This seems obvious but make it more special than just tossing ornaments on the tree. Dim the lights, enjoy holiday cocktails, holiday music and reminisce as your decorate the tree.

Homemade gifts: This may be a time in your life where money isn’t growing on trees. So each year, make at least one homemade gift for each other. As the years pass and you have kids, move out of that small apartment and make way more money, it’ll take you back to a sweet time in your lives when you open each other’s homemade gifts.

Christmas dinner for two: For Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, you’ll be surrounded by family to celebrate the holidays but carve out a day the week before to have a romantic holiday dinner for two before the big family days.

Sexy Santa and Mrs. Claus: Have you been naughty or nice? Have some fun in the bedroom dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus!
