Football may be why many watch the Super Bowl, but it's also the commercials that make the event so entertaining.
The 2014 Super Bowl has a plethora of brands that will be flexing their advertising muscle in what is one of undoubtedly the most important events of the year to run a commercial. If you thought last year's Go Daddy commercial with Bar Refaeli kissing Jesse Heiman was pushing the limit, check out what this year's Super Bowl commercial entertainment has in store.
One clear front runner for oddest Super Bowl commercial (if it wins) is one of the five finalists for the annual Doritos Super Bowl ad competition. The title "Finger Cleaner" may say it all but here's the video anyway, for your viewing pleasure.
The video was created by Thomas Noakes of Sydney, Australia. He is the first international candidate to have made it to the final five of the Doritos contest, which has been running since the 2007 Super Bowl.
Other videos in the contest include two children competing for a bag their mom brings home from the grocery store, stolen Doritos in an office space, and a cardboard Time Machine. Voting for the contest runs through Jan. 29 and two of the five commercials - one picked by Doritos, one picked by fans - will air during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2. The spot with the most votes also wins $1 million!
Along with Doritos, there will be plenty of other Super Bowl commercials to look out for including the traditional Anheuser-Busch, who has made a long-term deal to be the exclusive beer advertiser in the game through 2015. Nestle is using the big game to promote their national roll-out of the Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cup. Butterfinger will reportedly not include their mascot Bart Simpson in the ad. Also, an increased trend this year for Super Bowl commercials will be more healthy food brands like the popular Pistachio ads as well as yogurt brands Dannon and Chobani.
