There can be multiple factors that go into not having family vacations anymore - both parents hard at work every day, technology that easily entertains, and tight schedules that can cut into family time.
It’s easy to lose that valuable close-knit togetherness when you aren’t around each other all the time. So we are proposing something new to all families out there: Let’s bring back family vacations this year!
Now vacations don’t have to be an expensive endeavor or turn into a Clark Griswold mess. There are so many options out there for families to have a great time.
We brainstormed a few ideas for your family’s next vacation this year!
Spring Bloom Festival at Kings Dominion
Kings Dominion, located in Doswell, Virginia, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with lots of fun and entertainment for the whole family! Their second annual Spring Bloom Festival runs from April 3 to May 3 and will feature free family-friendly concerts, unique food offerings and hands-on children’s activities!
Some must-see events include: Easter EGGstravaganza from April 3-5, Disney star Debby Ryan with her band The Never Ending on April 11, and Choo Choo Soul performing at the Peanut’s Showplace Theater on April 19.
There is something for everyone at Kings Dominion’s Annual Spring Bloom festival! 2015 Season Passes are on sale now.
Is your family a fan of the outdoors? Make your next trip interactive and adventurous by spending time out in the wild (or a close campground will do). Stay in a rustic cabin for the week or a long weekend, or rent a spot at the campground. Spend your days exploring the camp, picnicking, roasting s’mores and catching fireflies at night. Just don’t forget the bug spray!
Explore a city
Near a city that would be fun to explore? If you live in the ‘burbs or a rural area, head to the closest metro area to check out museums, zoos, restaurants and more! Be sure to check out local deals for venue tickets or download apps that help you explore and find budget-friendly, family-fun options.
Staycation at home
Turn your home into a mini resort. Take the week to hang with the family at home (no work allowed, parents!) and sightsee around your town. Try all of the things you always wanted to, like that new restaurant that opened up downtown or a playground that the kids love to go to.
Whatever family vacation you choose this year, don’t forget to take pictures to capture every memory! We are sure you’ll want to relive all the fun later on!
