As the days get warmer and summer approaches, it’s time to start brainstorming fun activities to do with the whole family. Of course, there is always the occasional family dinner or ice cream treat. But when you’re looking for something more exciting, check out these ideas!
Seeing familiar animals and learning about new creatures is always a fun and educational time for the family. Most zoos and aquarium have meet-and-greets with animals so kids (and you!) can pet or even hold them. When spending the day, be sure to check out the unique lunch and dinner options the zoo provides, as several will have themed locations and great views of the park and animals.
Make your next amusement park outing memorable by heading to Kings Dominion, located in Doswell, Virginia. Spring fever is in full effect with their second annual Spring Bloom Festival (April 3 – May 3).
Spring Bloom features all sorts of fun activities for the family, including Easter EGGstravaganza (April 3-5), an International Culinary Celebration, and lots of toe-tapping entertainment from local country and bluegrass bands every weekend!
Also in April is a live concert with Disney Channel Star Debby Ryan and her band The Never Ending (April 11) and Choo Choo Soul, a children's entertainment act featuring a hip-hop train conductor and her partner, a dancer and beatboxer dressed as a railroad engineer (April 19).
What better picture-perfect way to spend time with the family than soaking up the sun at the beach? Bring some beach toys for the kids, like buckets, shovels and boogie boards, and watch them play while you sit in your beach chairs taking in the warm sun. Don’t forget sunscreen!
Don’t feel like leaving the house one night? Movie marathons are always a fun activity for the kids with minimal work for the parents! Get your favorite food delivered to the house or prepare a themed meal to go with the movie. Definitely make some popcorn, and enjoy a few of your favorite flicks!
Nothing says fun family time like a DIY craft day! Head over to Pinterest and get some unique crafting ideas for you and the kids. Or for an even easier idea, pull out some paints, crayons, markers and other drawing materials and let them create their very own masterpiece!
