Ever think those bright lights at the Clinique counter that make your lines a little more prominent or your pores a little more porous?
Well, if you have, you’re among the select individuals who understand the marketing strategies of large cosmetics companies. They make you look like a deer in headlights and chances are, you’ll buy that new face cream they’ve just slathered you with.
All that is about to change though, as I’ve got something that should make those 20-somethings behind the counter positively shudder with fear in their pressed white lab coats.
It has been known for some time that the way the skin looks has a lot to do with how it reflects light. Working upon that idea, scientists started wondering about how light could play a role in things like actual skin cells. We’ve seen everything when it came to fractional skin rejuvenation treatments…blue vegetable dye and a red aftermath that made you look like you’d been in the sun for hours on end.
About BroadBand Light Treatment
But, now there is something that may prove to be an actual Fountain of Youth. It’s called the BroadBand Light Treatment. The treatment targets the gene expression of skin cells that are associated with aging. What does that mean? As your skin cells age, the genes of those cells begin to ‘express’ themselves as though they are aging, which of course, they do over time. What the BroadBand Light Treatment does is targets these genes in a way that essentially convinces them that they aren’t aging anymore, and as a result, they start to appear younger over time.
Pretty cool isn’t it?
If you’re skeptical, I was too, at first. Light can do all kinds of amazing things, but reverse the aging of skin cells? Yes, it can do that too.
A Stanford University study led by renowned Dermatologist Dr. Anne Lynn S. Chang revealed the molecular changes the BroadBand Light Treatment induces. The study, “Rejuvenation of Gene Expression Pattern of Aged Human Skin by BroadBand Light Treatment” shows that the treatment is safe and effective and supports the hypothesis that the reversal of skin damage and aging is possible by changing how the regulators at the molecular level of skin cells express themselves.
So bottom line, the treatment works. Which is a far cry more than we can say for all those skin products under blinding lights at your local mall. The downtime after the procedure is practically nothing; you don’t end up red and irritated for days on end after a treatment. People who have tried the treatment say they are amazed at the results.
