If you have a special someone, Valentine’s Day might make you get all warm and fuzzy inside. But Valentine’s Day isn’t just for romantic relationships. It can also be a great time of the year to show your appreciation for all your loved ones!
Take a cue from Leslie Knope or the infamous Sex and the City gals this year and get your favorite gal pals together to celebrate your very own Galentine’s Day...
Ladies Who Lunch
Channel your inner society lady and book a reservation for lunch at your favorite dining establishment. It can be easier to fit in a group reservation for lunch or brunch on the big day. If you’re feeling more adventurous, host a potluck at home. That way you can cleverly decorate each seat plate with anything from personalized Valentine name places to candy hearts.
Girls Night In
This idea works best if you have friends with other V-Day plans. Schedule a night sometime during the big week to get together and have a fun night in. Watch a cheesy rom-com from the 1980s that you can make fun of, do DIY pink-themed manis and everyone brings their favorite junk food. Everyone wins.
More DIY, Less Commercial
Because Valentine’s Day tends to be largely a consumer holiday – think buying chocolates, hearts, and expensive dinners, Galentine’s Day tends to be more personal. When planning something that will be special to you and your friends, try to focus more on stuff you all enjoy doing. Maybe it’s going to the mall and trying on clothes you don’t feel pressured to buy. Maybe it’s making an all-female playlist and hosting a dance party. Or maybe daytime fun is more your speed and you’d like to host some ladies over to knit or decorate cookies together.
Whatever your preference, remember that you don’t have to be single to set aside some quality time with your girl friends this Valentine’s Day!
