In 2007, Amy Hilliard, CEO and founder of Comfort Cake, couldn’t be more ecstatic when she found out that Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart wanted to sell her cakes in their frozen dessert aisle! She already featured her desserts in the bakery section of Jewel Osco so this would be a new and exciting business venture for her! Yet there were some bumps in the road but that didn't stop her or her business! 

The Success of Comfort Cakes in Wal-Mart

Although it didn’t work out, she kept really good relationships with the people of the corporation because you never know when things could change. Then in 2010, they needed a supplier and Comfort Cake was there! It was fairly successful but Hilliard suggested instead of selling the cakes frozen, why not sell the cake mixes? She noted there is no issue with shelf life. Now, the mixes are doing extremely well at Wal-Mart! 

Even though Comfort Cakes hit a bump in the road, Hilliard was able to push through to success!
