Rescue your cuticles with these two simple recipes for cuticle oil and cuticle cream.
You don’t need to go to a high-end salon to get gorgeous cuticles. Simply make your own homemade cuticle cream and cuticle oil at home and rescue those cuticles! Chemist and beauty industry expert David Pollock, author of 101 Recipes for Beauty, says that cuticle creams can benefit the area around the nails and the nail bed by nourishing, hydrating and conditioning the skin and supporting new nail growth, for healthier nails. He has shared two homemade recipes for cuticle oil and cuticle cream that you can make for yourself or even as a gift for your best girls!
Recipes for Cuticle Cream and Cuticle Oil
“The cuticle is the layer of dead skin that lies on top of the nail bed,” says Pollock. “Softening the skin before a manicure or pedicure softens the skin or cuticle and makes it easier to push back, reshape or trim.”
Pollock says that cuticle creams and oils can be massaged over dry, brittle nails to seal in moisture. “However, before applying nail polish, make sure to remove any access cream or oils,” he suggests.
