How can you improve your health by watching TV? Easy, stretch during commercials! Stretching during commercials will increase flexibility, improve circulation and calm your mind. It will also kill some time during unwanted advertisements. Try starting slow then gradually moving deeper. The more TV you watch, the more stretching you can do.


Ankle Circles: Try this stretch one foot at time by lifting your feet off the floor and rotating them in a circular motion. Repeat this exercise 15 to 30 times on each foot.

Foot Pumps: Begin this exercise by placing both feet on the floor and positioning your toes as high up as possible. After pointing them upward, return to a flat position and press your toes into the ground. Do this as many times as possible within 30 seconds.

Knee Lifts: Keep your thighs mobile by practicing knee lifts. To do this, lift each knee off the couch by contracting the thigh muscle. Alternate between both legs 20 to 30 times.


Shoulder Roll: Move your shoulders forward, upward, backward and downward in order to keep them functioning properly. This movement should take place in a circular motion. Start this exercise slowly to avoid strains and repeat for 30 seconds to a minute.

Forward Flex: With both feet flat on the floor, suck your stomach in and bend forward with your hand on your knees or calves. This will help stretch out your arms while improving digestion.

Arm Curl: Begin this exercise with your arms bent at a 90-degree angle. With elbows down and hands out in front, raise your hands up to your face. The object here is to wake up the biceps.

Back and Neck

Overhead Stretch: Raise both hands over your head. With the opposite hand, grab your arm by the elbow and gently pull your arm to one side. Hold this stretch for 15-30 seconds and repeat on the opposite arm.

Neck Roll: With relaxed shoulders, drop your ear to you shoulder and rock the neck forward to the other side. Hold this stretch for 10 seconds and repeat as many times as desired.

Arm Extension: Raise your arms above your head and press your palms together. The object of this stretch is to lengthen the spine.
