back-to-school-ideas-with-rd-Amari-ChefferRegistered Dietitian Amari Cheffer gives us great back to school breakfast tips.

Still trying to figure out how to make the mornings run a little smoother? With kids now in full swing of heading to school, I checked in with dietitian Amari Cheffer to hear about the latest back to school breakfast trends.

She explained to me you don't have to wake up an extra two hours early to prepare a delicious, nutritious meal for your kids.

Whether you have 15, 10 or even one minute to spare in the morning, there is a healthy back-to-school breakfast that works for you.

Healthy & Quick Breakfast Ideas

"Get Your Greens" Smoothie

A “get your greens” smoothie can be tossed together in less than 15 minutes. All you have to do is combine orange juice, fresh kale, pineapple, avocado and ice and blend until smooth. Throw it in a tumbler and take it on the go to jump start your day with vitamins and nutrients.

Pumpkin Pie Granola

For granola-lovers, there’s a simple, delicious pumpkin pie granola recipe that can be ready in 10 minutes. All you have to do is combine ingredients including pumpkin seeds, pie spice, oats and nuts in a bowl, add the contents to a baking sheet and bake it for 30 minutes. These can be refrigerated and stored for many, many mornings!

Chocolate Cherry Energy Bites

Another storable treat are the chocolate cherry energy bites. These are similar to the granola bar, but instead you mix the ingredients including raw almonds, dates, and chocolate chips in a food processor and form them into little balls then store them in the fridge. These are a perfect grab and go snack for those busy mornings.

On-The-Go Oatmeal

For those of you who only have 5 minutes in the morning for preparation, take an on-the-go oatmeal mix that you can add water to and heat later. This mix includes oats, nuts, dried fruits, and brown sugar. This is even perfect for traveling—all you have to do is add hot water and you’ve got oatmeal.

Healthy choices can be convenient, especially on those busy mornings. It takes just as long to pick up a greasy fast food breakfast sandwich as it does to make up one of these healthy treats.
