Best Sunglasses for Your Face Shape
Written by Cathy Jacobs
best-sunglasses-for-your-face-shapeSunglasses are an essential fashion accessory in the warm-weather months. It's important to choose the right pair - not only to show off your style cred, but to flatter and balance the natural shape of your face. Try these tips for finding the best pair of shades for you this spring and summer.

Before you go shopping, figure out your face shape, if you don't already know it. You’ll want to start by getting your hair out of your face, so you can see it. Pop on a headband, tie your tresses in a towel, or just grab an elastic and secure your locks in a ponytail (fix any bangs or stray pieces in place with bobby pins). Stand in front of your bathroom mirror and take a good look at yourself. You can eyeball your face shape, but it might help to trace it right on the mirror with an eyeliner pencil, a lipstick, or a wet bar of soap. (You can always wash the mirror later).

Seventies Denim is Back
Written by Cathy Jacobs

seventies-denim-is-backAre you feeling the seventies vibe in the fashion air? Similar to last year’s Me Decade revival, certain staples of 1970s fashion - think flared-leg jeans, colored denim, and floor-dusting jean skirts – are going to be huge again for this spring and summer. And while these retro styles may not totally edge out our beloved skinnies and boyfriend jeans, we are definitely seeing a continual style evolution toward more funky and feminine looks these days. Better yet, with some dutiful digging, you may be able to find vintage versions of these trends at the discount store or flea market, and save yourself major moolah!

Trouser Jeans: Your Casual Friday Go-To Denims
Written by Cathy Jacobs

trouser-jeans-your-casual-friday-go-to-jeansTrouser jeans are a great go-to item for every woman's closet. I'll take a look at the style, and share ideas for how to work them into your everyday wardrobe.

The Classic Trouser Jean

These are dark wash jeans - no distressing or top stitching here - with a leg that's slightly wider than boot-cut. Typically styled in a medium-rise, and falling in a straight line from the hip to toe, these jeans help to give your legs a long, lean look. Stretchy denim, wider waistbands, slanted or side entry front pockets, and no stitching on the back pockets help to make these pants resemble classic trousers more than their blue jeans cousins.

Written by Cathy Jacobs

sneaky_ways_to_upgrade_your_bargain_buysIn my continuing quest to look fabulous without using every bit of the grocery money on clothes, I have picked up a few tricks over the years for making cheap fashion look more expensive (after all, it may be fabulous to score a pair of paints, a skirt, or a great top from the sales bin at H&M, but we don't need anyone else to know that)! Summer's 5 Hottest Hats and How to Wear Them
Written by Cathy Jacobs

summers_5_hottest_hats_and_how_to_wear_themThe summer heat has been doing a number on my highlights. It got to the point where I put aside my fear of looking dorky, and went summer hat shopping. After trying on a ton of options, I actually came home with a hat that not only protects my expensively-dyed strands from the sun, but also looks pretty cute according to my beau and friends.
