Sunday night’s BET awards was one for the books, celebrating 15 years of great music, featuring fan-favorite musicians, and and honoring trail blazers and icons like Janet Jackson and Smokey Robinson.
Every year, we tune in to the BET awards for the great performances. Many singers did the show justice this year (Chris Brown! Nicki Minaj!), but these star-studded performances really brought down the house!
King Kendrick Lamar opens the show
Kendrick Lamar set the tone for the show with an opening performance of “Alright.” He had the crowd on its feet while he rocked out on top of a spray-painted police car.
Diddy, Lil’ Kim and Mase in an old-school mash-up
The power trio celebrated the many years of BET awards with a greatest hits performance that’s already an iconic moment in the show's history! This definitely brought back some throwback memories.
Patti LaBelle performs the final song of the evening
Patti Labelle’s surprise performance gave us chills. Singing along with K. Michelle and Tamar, she hit every high note and got a standing ovation at the end of the song.
The Weeknd and Alicia Keys sing "Earned It"
We were already looking forward to The Weeknd’s performance of hit song “The Hills”, but when Alicia Keys took the stage to help him perform “Earned It” from Fifty Shades of Gray? We were in musical ecstasy.
