UPDATE 4/21/15: Bobbi Kristina Brown has "global and irreversible brain damage" according to her grandmother Cissy Houston. The 22-year-old is no longer in a medically induced coma but remains unresponsive, Houston said in a statement Monday after visiting her granddaughter. "Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me," Houston said. "We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time."
UPDATE 4/20/15: Bobby Brown's wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown has come forward, saying that her husband was in "an emotional state" when he gave an update on his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown over the weekend during a concert.
She released the following statement: "My husband made an attempt to correct the negative comments he must endure on a daily basis from both family and the public regarding his daughter's medical condition. He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization on January 31, 2015. She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard. We will hold on to all the blessings GOD gives us to help her at this time and we look forward to her having a relationship with her unborn sister as our family grows in love and faith. I just wish my husband could deal with this most painful and difficult time with people surrounding him who fully support and pray for Bobbi Kristina's recovery and only her recovery. Life is the most precious thing that we all have."
Meanwhile, Bobby's lawyer adds, "Bobbi Kristina's condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement. Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come."
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly four months since Bobbi Kristina Brown was found face down unresponsive in a bathtub in her Atlanta home. Since the chilling discovery of the only child of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, fans have shown concern for the wellbeing of the 22-year-old and wondering if she will ever make a full recovery.
“Krissy,” as so lovingly called by her close family, is allegedly awake and no longer on life support. The aspiring singer’s dad took the stage at a Frankie Beverly concert over the weekend in Dallas in which he confirmed, "I could say today, Bobbi is awake."
In an Instagram video shared by a concert-goer, fans applauded the happy news before Bobby, 46, said, "She’s watching me."
This is Bobby’s first comment about his daughter since she was moved from Emory University Hospital in Georgia to a rehabilitation center in Atlanta. According to sources, although the move signals long-term plans, it’s not to be perceived as good news. A medical source suggested that the hospital where Bobbi was staying was no longer able to provide the immediate care she required and was therefore in need of a long-term facility.
When Bobbi’s family first tried pulling her out of her medically induced coma in February, the 22-year-old reportedly succumbed to seizures almost immediately.
This has been the only comment from Bobby regarding the health of Bobbi Kristin since his initial statement in February. "
We continue to request privacy in regards to my daughter’s medical condition," he said in a statement to E! News. "We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina and God is hearing our prayers."
