Sometimes it's hard to believe that celebrities went to school just like the rest of us. During a panel at the Paley Festival, Scandal star Kerry Washington spoke about her experience at The Spence School, an all-girls school for grades K-12 in New York, New York. Washington said she loved her experience at the school and calls herself lucky to have experienced it.
"I was really lucky because I went to an all-girls school, and that single sex education really helped me because I really learned to bond with women and to not compete with or compare myself as much because we were all allowed to be ourselves and be unique and kind of have our unique strengths," Washington said.
The Scandal star later went on to attend George Washington University while double majoring in anthropology and sociology. Washington graduated from the school as a Phi Beta Kappa in 1998. Washington has an impressive background in schooling, but the success of her now third season of Scandal is just as impressive.
Washington is in good company as an all-girls school alumnae. Several other successful and influential women have graduated from female-only institutions.
