Every time we think award season is officially over, we turn around and there’s another Country Music Award ceremony – we’re not complaining, though. Wednesday night, the annual CMT Music Awards were held in Nashville. Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow and Dancing With the Stars host Erin Andrews hosted the star-studded evening of country celebration, powerhouse performances, and Carrie Underwood being dubbed the Queen of Country.
Here are the top five moments from the night:
1. Carrie Underwood Kills It
Carried Underwood gave birth just a few months ago in February and hasn’t appeared on a red carpet since. Fans were prepared to give Underwood some leeway on her usually hot and sexy red carpet ensembles – but we didn’t have to. Underwood stepped on the carpet looking better than ever (thanks to that extra momma glow) and then she strutted in the arena and took home three awards, including Collaborative Video of the Year for her song “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert.
2. Brittany Snow And The Belltones
It’d be almost weird if this didn’t happen – Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow who co-hosted the evening took to the stage to give the fans what they want - some aca-awesome music. We’re happy she kicked off the night by pointing out the obvious – Snow can sing too, y’all!
3. Kristen Bell Interjects
Last year’s CMT host Kristen Bell took the opportunity to shed some light on the do’s and don’t’s of hosting this particular award show – and Bell answered the question that we’ve all been thinking. How is it physically possible to host an award show while staring into the eyes of country’s hunkiest rockstars?
Bell advised Andrews and Snow, “Don’t look Luke Bryan in the eyes, it’s a beautiful lagoon and you’ll drown in it.” Also, “You’re going to want to call Darius Rucker Hootie…don’t.”
4. Joe Dirt…No Thanks
We thought this moviee was laid to bed a while ago, but fans were surprised to see David Spade take the stage to reprise his role from 14 years ago from Joe Dirt. And by the looks on the hostesses' faces, they felt the same sentiments as we did: “This is not good.”
At least when Dirt exited the stage, Keith Urban entered.
5. Arnold Schwarzenegger in a Cowboy Hat
Tom Arnold and Arnold Schwarzenegger reunited on the CMT stage last night in another movie reprisal stunt. (Why has this happened twice tonight?) Reviving their roles from the 1994 action film, True Lies, the two actors took the stage at Bridgestone Arena to present rhe Video of the Year award to recurring winner of the night, Carrie Underwood. Arnold, who announced this week that he’s expecting his second child, accompanied the former California governor in a small skit with hosts Andrews and Snow.
Schwarzenegger performed as a ‘Guuber’ driver who was giving Snow and Andrews a lift to the award show, but stopped by to pick up Arnold who was sporting a full beard.
What were your favorite highlights of the night?
