The media has criticized Justin Bieber for years. This time, however, Comedy Central is making it official. The network announced Tuesday morning that Justin Bieber will be this year’s celebrity Roastee. The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber will be taped in Los Angeles.
The event has already claimed the custom Twitter hashtag #BieberRoast. What’s most surprising, though, is that the pop icon has supposedly been asking to be roasted for years – you know, let the haters hate.
"Justin has been asking us for a few years to roast him, and we just kept telling him to go create more source material first. We’re thrilled he listened," joked Kent Alterman, President, Content Development & Original Programming for Comedy Central.
For years I have wanted Comedy Central to roast me. They said only if I provided them w/ more material so for a year now I have worked hard— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) January 20, 2015
While your brain might be flooding with potential material from Bieber’s recent run-ins, we’re predicting a Selena dig, a DUI arrest innuendo, and definitely some sort of 'package,' eh-hem, regarding his sensual Calvin Klein ads.
A Calvin Klein related roast wouldn’t be the first for Bieber. Just this past weekend, Kate McKinnon hilariously imitated Bieber on Saturday Night Live. McKinnon perfectly captured Bieber with a body covered in tattoos while playing basketball, riding a scooter, and caressing a model (Cecily Strong) who was significantly taller than him.
Justin took it rather well, as he should if he’s seriously preparing to get publicly roasted. Bieber tweeted "@NBCSNL well played. Lol."
We predict Comedy Central can expect high ratings for Bieber’s roast. The airdate has not yet been released.
