Musician Chris Picco tragically tragically lost his pregnant wife and son in just a matter of days. Picco’s wife died suddenly and an emergency C-section was performed to deliver the baby at only 24 weeks. He weighed only 2 pounds. There were glimmers of hope for survival but doctors were concerned about his lack of movement and brain activity.
In this trending video, Picco plays guitar and sings to his son the classic song by The Beatles, "Blackbird." This video, taken in the neonatal intensive care unit of Loma Linda University Hospital in California, has already moved thousands and thousands of people, after being posted online by a friend of the couple.
During her pregnancy, the mother Ashley would often feel the baby moving to music, hence this enchanting little concert. Sadly, the baby died in Picco’s arms on Tuesday, he wrote in a post on his Facebook page, calling his son "my little fighter, Lennon James Picco."
A memorial service is scheduled Saturday for Ashley and Lennon. Picco also wrote, "His mommy would have been so beyond joy to see him and to hold him, touch him, bathe him, sing to him — as I have had the privilege of doing. I have been so blessed and honored to love him before he was formed, to cherish him while mommy carried him, meet him face to precious face, and hold his perfect little body while we said ‘goodbye for now.’ There are no words."
