There's a new name change in Hollywood, and we're thoroughly pleased to confirm that the change isn't as "out there" as the transition of Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion. Former Baywatch hunk, David Hasselhoff, just made his longtime nickname 'The Hoff' official!
In a video message, the actor and father of two shared with his fans that he has dropped the Hassel from Hoff and is now officially and legally David Hoff.
The decision wasn't as spur-of-the-moment as you might think for the 63-year-old. "I had a chance to change it years ago," Hoff told Daily Mail Australia.
"They said, 'Look, you've got your first job on The Young and the Restless and you've got to change your name," Hoff revealed.
Although he did star on the soap for seven years in the late '70s, he didn't go through the legal hoops at the time. And now, roughly thirty years later, the suave actor shared a link to his video announcement saying, "Big news today and a massive relief for me. I hope everyone can understand... it feels great!"
Mr. Hoff is currently working in the UK performing in the musical Last Night A DJ Saved My Life.
