Deepak Chopra opened the Chopra Center for Wellbeing in 1996 to help people experience physical healing, emotional freedom, and higher states of consciousness.
It has been almost 30 years since. This August promises to be a world wide enlightening event with the the Seduction of Spirit conference. I was able to reach out to Deepak who helped me understand what this program promises to deliver.
Andrea: With a week long event that is focused on mindfulness, how can someone prepare for this event?
Deepak Chopra: No preparation is needed as we will be teaching the foundations of meditation and other mindfulness practices. It’s a wonderful event for both those who are new to meditation and those who have an established practice. As hundreds of people from throughout the world come together to meditate and share in the collective intention for peace and healing on the planet, we will experience the gifts of silence and the energy of love that flows from each individual heart and ripples out into the universe.
Andrea: What is the anticipated attendance to this event?
Deepak Chopra: Hundreds of people from all over the world will come together for the weeklong Seduction of Spirit retreat in Toronto. On August 8, at 12pm EST, we will set the Guinness World Record for the largest online meditation gathering in history. We know that when a large group comes together to meditate and experience inner silence, the world shifts a little. Andrea: What are some of the best ways for people to participate if not able to attend the event?
Deepak Chopra: If people aren’t able to attend the event, they can still contribute to our intention to create peace and healing on the planet by setting their own intentions and spending a little time each day in inner quiet. The Global Meditation for Peace on August 8 is a wonderful way to join in remotely for a bit of the live event experience.
The key to an event of this magnitude is consciousness and self awareness to share your energy for a greater good. Not sure how to meditate?
Try these simple steps.
1) Find 2-3 power words that you want more of in your life. (think: Joy, Peace, Love, strength, courage, etc)
2) Close your eyes and sit tall in your chair.
3) Breathe deeply into your belly drawing the air down to fill your whole body and then slowly release the breath with pursed lips. Recite the power words while you breathe inhaling and exhaling.
4) Start with 1-2 minutes and work up to 10 over the upcoming 2 weeks - practice daily as often as you can.
