Diem Brown, MTV star, has sadly lost her battle to cancer. The 32-year-old died Friday morning in New York City. The upbeat “warrior” fought a long and courageous battle with the disease which had control over the last nine years of her life.
Brown was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 23. Before an emergency hysterectomy, The Challenge star froze her eggs and promised herself that one day she would be married with two children and a white picket fence. “My goals are something I believe in, because I believe I’m going to make it,” said Brown to People magazine. Unfortunately, Brown suffered a recurrence in 2012 after seven years in remission.
Then, in summer 2014, the super fit and health conscious star was diagnosed with cancer for the third time in her young life. She vowed to overcome her colon cancer.
The cancer had eventually spread to her lymph nodes, liver, and stomach. Brown was preparing for her next round of a “chemo cocktail” on Nov. 18.
“Prayers up” was the ongoing saying that she and good friend Alicia Quarles, E! News correspondent, often went by. Just two days ago, Brown looked to her fans to carry her through the uphill journey. She tweeted, “I NEED PRAYERS and advice my doctors are seemingly giving up but I won’t & can’t rollover. Whatever option I have to LIVE I’m grabbing!”
Her last tweet was sent later that day on Tuesday.

MTV released a statement, “MTV is tremendously sad to hear the news that Diem Brown has lost her long battle with cancer. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Diem was a true fighter and brought passion to everything she touched. We will miss her.”
Brown is the founder of MedGift.com—a website dedicate to helping those dealing with any health related issue or hardship. The organization was her proudest accomplishment as Brown radiated optimism and positivity even through her darkest days.
“I’m needing some hope to fight for, some light to look forward to at the end of this journey. I find that strength in my family, friends and fans. People I’ve never met believe in me, I can’t let them down! I wont.”
Brown was looking forward to the end of this painful journey and hoped to not let anyone down along the way. And she did just that. The brave and courageous warrior is now pain-free and rather than feeling let down, people everywhere are inspired by a journey that was fought with an enormous amount of hope and faith.
Rest in peace, Diem.
