Can a doughnut be good for breakfast?
If we can agree that it's important to eat a healthy breakfast, then qualifying what makes something "healthy" is the next thing we should discuss. Today, Dunkin Donuts released it's newest offering to the "health" conscious eater with a Glazed Doughnut Breakfast Sandwich. At first glance you might think, "This can't be healthy!"
However, weighing in at only 360 calories, it has less calories than three of their other "breakfast" sandwiches.
- Bacon, Egg, Cheese and Biscuit = 430 calories
- Bacon, Egg, Cheese and Croissant = 480
- Bacon, Egg, Chees and Bagel = 460
So calorie for calorie, the doughnut sandwich might be a better option. Until there's more information released on saturated fats, protein and fiber, the jury is still out.
For your best bet, you may want the MultiGrain Bagel : 8 grams of fiber and 15 grams of protein with only 350 calories.... seems these calories may have better nutrient quality than the dounghnut options.
And as one person in the office mentioned, "Would that even taste good?" Sampling will occur later this week. Let us know if you've tried the new breakfast option at Dunkin Donuts.
