It’s important to stay on target with your weight gain while pregnant. The average number of pounds a pregnant woman gains per month is 3-5. This depends on where she started her pregnancy, be it at a normal weight or under or overweight. Every woman is different! Ashley Pettit, head of Ashley Pettit Living, chats with author and dietician Bridget Swinney on how to stay on track. 

Most women will need 2,000 to 2,400 calories a day. Make sure you don’t eat too much of anything so focus on healthy snacks and meals for the both of you.

Tips to Tracking Weight and Food Intake:

  1. Don’t weigh yourself more than once every week.
  2. Keep track of your food intake.
  3. This can easily be done with apps on your cellular device.
  4. Exercise 30-minutes daily unless your physician says otherwise.

As long as you’re tracking you’re weight without being paranoid and over doing it, you’re on the right path.
