The Harry Potter alumna was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for organization dedicated to promoting the education of young women.
Emma Watson has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for U.N. Women, an extension of the U.N.’s gender-equality arm. Her passion for the empowerment of women was highly regarded when deciding who to appoint.
"Women’s rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting," Watson said in a statement after she was granted the honor.
She also announced her feelings about the role on Twitter, saying "So excited to start work with AMAZING people at UN Women!"
Watson recently completed her degree at Brown University, making this one incredible to take on post-college! The actress didn't achieve this by just being famous either. She's been promoting education for girls in Zambia and Bangladesh far before this.
Watson will work with UN Women's HeForShe campaign that promotes gender equality.
Congrats to Watson on the role. We look forward to seeing her achievements.
