FEDS-MAY-ALLOW-TEENS-MORNING-AFTER-CONTRACEPTIVESF.D.A. plans to approve emergency contraception without a prescription.

Yersterday, June 10, the federal governent said it will reverse course and take action to allow girls of any age to purchase emergencey contraception without a prescription.


The F.D.A. asked the maker of these pills to submit a new application with labeling that would allow it to be sold as an "over the counter" medication without age or point-of-sale prescriptions.  Further the F.D.A, said once it has been revised and they receive it, they will approve it enabling any age female to purchase the morning after contraception.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America president, Cecile Richards said in a press statement, "this is a huge breakthrough for access to birth control and a historic moment for women's health and equity."
