It was reported that soda sales in the United States have recently declined. This could be a wonderful sign that obesity in America is going down.
Multiple major soda companies announced that they faced a decline in soda sales throughout the second quarter in North America. This could mark a turning point for the United States, which is one of the most obese countries in the world.
In a country where half of the citizens consume at least one sugary beverage every day, this kind of decline in sales is a welcome change. Cutting sodas and other sugary drinks out of your diet is one of the easiest ways to drop weight and be healthier.

1. Cut the carbonation: Sugary drinks, including sodas and energy drinks, are packed with sugar that your body just doesn’t need! Trade in overly sweet beverages for tea or water, but don’t opt for diet sodas! If you eliminate sodas from your diet, you’ll cut out excess sugar that can cause you to crash later in the day.
2. Up the fruits and veggies: One of the easiest ways to turn bad eating into healthy eating is to eat more fruits and vegetables. If you’re craving a sugary dessert, try going for some fresh fruit instead. And you can never have too many veggies! Substitute them when you’re snacking and you’ll cut away several calories.
3. Dress down the dressings: Switching from regular to low-fat dressings can make a huge difference in your diet. Choosing oil or vinegar-based dressings over fatty, creamy dressings can shave off grams of fat. Think of it this way: you wouldn’t want to ruin a healthy salad by smothering it in fatty dressing! You can even make your own healthy dressings by combing vinegar, oil and some of your favorite spices!
4. Don’t go nuts: Nuts are a great source of healthy fats and oils, but too many can be bad for you. Only eat them about twice a week, and keep your serving size to around ten nuts. Picture the little 100-calorie packs of nuts that airlines give out. That’s the portion you’re aiming for.
5. Eat breakfast like a champion: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and most people don’t realize that it should also be your biggest. If you start your morning with a healthy dose of protein, you’ll stay fuller for longer and will be less likely to snack on junk food or binge eat later in the day.
A study from Harvard University showed that men who skipped breakfast were 27 percent more likely to have a heart attack! If you can, try to downsize your dinner. Your body will shed weight more easily if you eat a smaller amount at night and a larger amount in the morning, instead of doing the reverse.
