The first look at the new Wonder Woman is a fierce one!
Gal Gadot, 29, will play Wonder Woman in the upcoming film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Director Zack Snyder released a photo during the Warner Bros.’ presentation at San Diego's Comic-Con to show what fans can expect of the modernized warrior princess of the Amazon.
Snyder also released a short clip of the film, which is not online yet but we're sure to see it soon.
Fans are getting ultra-giddy over the movie but even more so over Wonder Woman now that they’ve seen the first photo. It's obvious the classic comic book version got a makeover for the new film. No more spandex, tights or bright colors. She's armored up, looking good and now an even more lethal warrior.
Some have criticized the photo though for not representing the iconic comic book looks of Wonder Woman, with online critics saying she looks more like another warrior princess - Xena.
From the photo we can see Gadot in character, wearing the iconic indestructible bracelets that Wonder Woman uses to deflect and guard. She also uses them to conceal and conjure up swords. Next to her hip, there the famous Lasso of Truth, a weapon Wonder Woman uses to - as the name states - coerce the truth out of anyone.
Gadot certainly looks the part but we'll have to wait and see how she embodies the part on screen. The film comes out May 6, 2016 and is the sequel to 2013's Man of Steel and the second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe.
The film also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Tao Okamoto, and Holly Hunter.
