Frozen fans rejoice! A Frozen short film is coming out next year!
Frozen fans, it’s your lucky day because Disney just announced that a new Frozen short film will be released next year in spring 2015! The animated follow-up to the blockbuster smash, which earned $1.274 billion at the global box office, will be called Frozen Fever and it will likely have all your favorite characters!
Yes, Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff will all be returning to the big screen! But there’s still no word yet whether or not Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad will reprise their roles. There’s also no word whether a not a full-length picture follow-up is planned.
According to Disney sources, Frozen Fever will reunite filmmakers Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck with Oscar-winning composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who will write a new catchy tune for the short film. The story is focused on Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff want to do something very special but of course, Elsa’s icy powers get in the way.
Kids and adults alike couldn’t be more excited! Frozen won two Oscars at the Academy Awards back in March for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Let It Go,” the ever-popular tune by the husband-and-wife-composing duo.
Disney announced the big news at the end of an ABC special about the making of the original film. In November, the studio will release a new sing-along version as well as several new versions of the soundtrack.
Sources also note that a new "Disney on Ice" tour will be coming soon, based on the movie. Looks like Disney doesn’t want to let this one thaw out! Good, we don’t either!
