Since Glee first aired back in 2009, it has set itself apart as a show that isn’t afraid to tackle challenging subjects, such as domestic violence and mental health issues. The latest series has begun to highlight Gender Dysphoria as Coach Beiste begins the transition process throughout the rest of the series.

In an upcoming episode titled "Transitioning," Coach Beiste has returned to debut his new look and introduce Gleeks to... Sheldon!

The plot line was introduced back on January 16 and is set to continue until the end of the sixth and final series.

Speaking about her fears ahead of filming the upcoming scenes, actress Dot-Marie Jones who plays Coach Beiste on the show told People Magazine, "I just didn't want to let down the girls who are straight and tomboys that my character represented the last four seasons."

However, Jones need not worry as she has received plenty of support from fans of the show on social media for her performance.

"I had thousands of Tweets from people. I was crying," Jones told People. "Members of the transgender community were saying, 'I never thought I’d see myself on TV. You have no idea what this means to me. Now, maybe people will get it.”

A picture, which has now been released of Coach Beiste post-transition, shows the McKinley High Sports Coach with short hair, facial hair and a green shirt.
