After seven glorious seasons full of laughter, friendship and waffles, Parks and Recreation will air its final episode tonight. Please excuse us while we ugly cry for the next 20 minutes.
The hour-long episode entitled "One Last Ride" will follow our favorite Pawnee residents as they complete one final task together before the majority of them move away from their small southern Indiana town. We're hoping that this task requires cameos from our favorite Parks characters that haven't returned yet for the final season, mainly Leslie's BFF Ann Perkins and former city manager Chris Traeger who we haven't seen since season 6.
In an interview with TVGuide.com, series co-creater and executive producer Mike Schur talked about the bittersweetness of writing the episode. Schur said he was sad to see the characters go, but happy he was able to give them the proper send off he wanted.
"I will say that I paid a lot of attention to the very last words that each character says," said Schur. "I feel like we spent a lot of time trying to get that exactly right. If these are the last words that Donna says or that Andy says or that Ben says... we wanted to make sure that they were in character or appropriate so I hope that people feel like we got that right at least."
We have a feeling that Schur will definitely get it right, and that he'll have us wiping tears from our eyes by the time the credits roll. Goodbye Parks and Recreation, we love you and we like you.
The Parks and Recreation's series finale will air tonight at 10/9c on NBC.
