have-you-tried-the-blindfold-workout-header1Bored with your workout? Here’s something neat you probably haven’t tried.

Change the way you experience the workout by putting on a sleep mask. The kind you might have seen in a 1950's movie or on Miss Piggy. Now the blindfold workout is only going to work if you are exercising on a stationary piece of equipment like a treadmill or elliptical, or if you’re exercising on the floor - maybe doing sit-ups and things.

So different!

If you’re an introvert, you might really love it because it blocks out everything else. Kind of like a kid who says, “you can’t see me”, somehow not having to deal with everything visually can be really comforting.

If you’re not a morning person, this is going to feel nice and cozy. You’re going to be able to have your eyes closed and it’s almost like a womb-like feeling. Walking on the elliptical this way to me is kind of like swimming in the darkness. It’s not a darkness that feels scary...it just feels really cozy, smooth, and effortless. A nice sort of meditative workout with your eyes closed.


Finally, as you get used to it, you start to feel more nuanced and notice interesting things about the workout.

You start to feel how each muscle is working and the sensation of your skin getting pre-sweaty. Just that little bit of humidity on your skin. It’s a very meditative experience to let in more of the senses that don’t get as much play in our lives.

Spend your #33minutes completely focused on improving your performance or dedicating your workout to someone you love.
