It’s been a few weeks since Halloween, but it’s time to get back in the spirit of the spooky holiday. Because if Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are on board for a sequel to Hocus Pocus, then fans of the 1993 hit will be badgering Disney until there’s a confirmation.
Bette Midler caused a stir (no cauldron pun intended) when she revealed on Tuesday in a Reddit AMA that all three actresses are prepared to put the Sanderson sisters back together. Midler, with the support of her former co-stars, told fans to "inundate the Disney company."
Mary Sanderson, aka Kathy Najimy, is ready dust off her book of magic as well. The actress tweeted, "Hocus people, Bette says it best. Listen to your elders!" along with the article mentioning Midler’s suggestion for a sequel.
SJP, in her usual eloquent and simple style of replying to Twitter followers, responded to a Hocus fan confirming, "Yep, I’m in."
Midler, who usually has a profound affect on her fans and the entertainment industry (what Bette wants, Bette gets), crafted an email to Buzzfeed, reading:
"The outpouring of love from Hocus-ites has been astounding. The creativity of their Sanderson sisters costumes, posters, artwork, t-shirts, statues, TV stills, photos, compliments and line quotes have blown up social media and I want them to know…We see and appreciate it all. When a film is being shot, you never quite know the impact.. If it’ll be a hit or a miss, and…with this one…we hear ya’ll loud and clear! A sequel is totally in The Disney company’s hands = And it will be exciting to see what transpires!"
Perhaps SJP will confirm a Hocus Pocus sequel in lieu of confirming a Sex and the City 3, creating the ideal day for young girls who spent their best years in the 90’s.
Your move, Disney.
