The kind folks at Trio Animal Foundation in Chicago found a mistreated dog at a local shelter.
The dog was covered in flies, gnats, had matted fur, and was covered in its own urine. The dog’s fur was so long and untamed, they couldn’t figure out which end was front or back. The grooming company and animal foundation found out the dog was a girl and named her Ellen. It took almost two hours for the groomer to shave the dog, who had two pounds of hair!
After they shaved Ellen, they noticed her skin was irritated and raw.
During the cleaning process, Ellen didn't growl or bark but instead gave the rescuers lovable kisses. It was obvious she felt saved.
They gave her a bath, got her a new collar, leash, and, of course, some new toys. You won’t believe her before and after pictures!
Founder of the rescue group, Sue Naiden, said, "The first time that she could feel the touch of my hand on her newly shaven back, she looked me in the eyes and it was as if she was saying thank you."
Ellen is still currently up for adoption and needs a permanent, adoring home. But for now, she is in a place where she is loved and cared for. She met some new doggie friends, ate a nourishing dinner, and finally got a comfy, good night sleep.
