Many people don’t know exactly what a root canal is and what you can do to treat or prevent it. There is one thing you can do to avoid the dreaded root canal, go to the dentist.
What is a root canal?
A root canal occurs when the nerve and blood supply inside the tooth are damaged. The nerve and blood supply that is damaged within the tooth cannot fix itself, so it is imperative that you go and see your dentist right away. Problems with your teeth are not like a cold, they don’t go away on their own. When you have a root canal the dentist will remove the material inside the tooth that is damaged. And don’t worry, your dentist will make sure to numb your mouth and make it completely painless.
How to Avoid a Root Canal
Avoiding a root canal is as simple as this: GO TO THE DENTIST! Visiting them annually will do the trick. But, if you do get a root canal it can turn into a nightmare. When left untreated a root canal can cause an infection, which has been known to cause death in some cases. If you do not go to the dentist, the untreated tooth can get infected and abscess. A tooth cannot swell so the only place for the abscess to go is into the jawbone. This can make the infection travel into the heart or the brain, which can cause a much bigger problem.
A root canal sounds scary, but if left untreated it can become more worse and lead to a much more serious problems. If you are having any issues with your teeth go to your dentist right away so they can fix the problem and keep you smiling!
