As you go through your daily life - running a successful business, taking care of a family and maintaining a household - it's easy to become overwhelmed. That's why it's important to incorporate an exercise program into your life. Doing so will improve your health and allow you to cope with the stress of daily living. Following these guidelines will enable you to help you stick to your exercise goals.
Choose An Activity You Like
If you focus on activities you enjoy such as walking, jogging, biking, aerobics or swimming, then you’re apt to stick with a regular program. For instance, I get up at 5:45 am three to four times per week for a 45 minute walk that equates to 2.5 miles. While walking, I also listen to various business and mindset podcast.
Set Your Goals
This is extremely important and can make or break the success of your fitness program. By setting weekly goals, you become motivated to achieve and surpass them as you go through your routine.
Start Slow And Build Up
Don’t overdo it! If you do you'll burn you out quickly. Instead, start off just a few times per week and build slowly. Also, if you are exercising and find it difficult to talk without feeling out of breath, then it’s a sign that you should slow down.
Try exercising 30 minutes a day, three days a week. Then increase your intensity by power walking, jogging, doing aerobics or riding a bicycle.
Record Your Exercise
This is important! As you incorporate activities into your program, you want to chart your development. There are a lot of exercise apps available depending on what kind of exercises you choose. Since I am an active walker, I use an app called Sports Tracker to record my progress. This app offer a lot of great features such as it uses your phone’s internal GPS to track your route, time, distance and speed.
Take On A Buddy
You don’t have to exercise alone. Ask a friend or family member to join you. This is a great way to incorporate an accountability partner. Those days you feel like giving up, your buddy will give you the strength to carry on. Ultimately, you will stay motivated to reach your desired goals.
