One of the biggest draws of social media site Twitter is the ability to follow our favorite celebrities. But it seems that online bullying and trolling is causing some stars to leave the social networking site altogether, with the most recent being Australian rap star Iggy Azalea.
The "Black Widow" singer has decided to quit "all social media" due to the constant negativity that she faces. The decision appears to have been taken due to unpleasantness over a recent bikini picture of Azalea that shows her with some cellulite - something that many women also have.
The star posted a series of tweets saying, "Just got back from a great vacation, came online and saw apparently it's shocking and unheard of to be a woman and have cellulite. Lol."
She continued, "I feel the hatred and pettiness I see online at all times is at making me become an angry person and I cannot be that."
Fighting back, the "Fancy" singer made her feelings to the trolls clear by tweeting, "The Internet is the ugliest reflection of man kind there is."
While Iggy fans may be disappointed at the news, the star did confirm that her presence on Twitter wouldn’t disappear altogether. The star went onto to inform fans that her management would be handling her social media accounts for now and will continue to post news and updates.
However, it appears her absence could be temporary with the star tweeting, "I also want to let my fans know I am taking some time away from social media. I need to be happy and it is too negative and draining."
While the star doesn't appear to have been back on Twitter since the announcement, Iggy does seem to still be active on Instagram.
