Although the thought that society is slowly moving towards everything virtual and computerized is disturbing, I can see some valid points raised here. Even if a family doesn't have much money the investment in one of these pets would be returned tenfold because it completely eliminates trips to the vet, yearly shots, heart worm and flea medicines; not to mention food and general upkeep.

For the past month, my son and daughter have fallen in love with the new online game Free Realms. It's very family-friendly, and my daughter absolutely loves adopting and training cats and dogs. If you're kids love online games and are looking for clean, safe fun, I would definitely check out Free Realms.

This virtual pet sounds so cute. It would teach the child about pet responsibility too. I will have to tell my sister about the virtual pets. Thank you for the information.

My little boy has wanted a pet real bad. We keep telling him that pets are a big responsibility. Maybe we should do this with him to show him how much work a pet is.

My kids have virtual pets that they take care of. I think it is a great way to teach them responsibility of a pet.

There are a lot of things on the internet that teaches kids about responsibilities. My kids go to this site where they have their own apartment. Of course they have to pay the bills, buy food and things for this apartment from what they get from their job.
