My oldest daughter looked into this with her daughter. She found that it was cheaper to add her to their policy and by taking drivers ed her daughters premium was over $100 a month less.
My mom told me that I had to take drivers education she also said if I wanted to drive I had to have a job and pay for my insurance. I think it was good for me to take insurance responsibility. It prepared me more for the real world.
Insurance for children can be real expensive. My kids and I had a deal I pay half of their premium and I pay the other half. That way it isn't a big chunk for either one of us. That seemed to work out well.

The only way my kids were able to drive was to get a job and pay for their own insurance. I wanted to help but knew that our budget couldn't stretch that far.
