She's famously dated a string of high-profile men and has been married three times, but Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez opened up in recent interview saying that she plans to be alone for now.
During part one of an exclusive interview with NBC's Maria Shriver that aired on TODAY Monday, Lopez said "Right now, I think it's just better to be on my own for a bit."
The singer, who recently split from choreographer Casper Smart, has been making media appearances for her new book True Love, a personal diary that she penned during her 2012 worldwide tour. In the book, the mother of two opens up about lessons she's learned in love, self esteem and motherhood.
''True love, I realized, was the love that I was missing inside of myself, for myself," Lopez said.
The American Idol judge spoke candidly about low self-confidence that has plagued her since a young age.
"I had confidence in what I could do, I didn't have confidence in who I was and what I had to offer just as a girl," said Lopez. "[Self-esteem] is still a work in progress for me."
The 45-year-old went onto explain to Today Show host Maria Shriver her reasons for moving on so quickly from boyfriend Ben Affleck back in January 2004 and marrying Marc Anthony in June 2004. Lopez admitted that she needed someone to turn to.
However, Lopez then added, "What you need to know is, nobody can save you or heal you. Only you can do that for you."
Looking positively toward the future, the star spoke about her hopes for her two children with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
"I want both of them to be independent, good on their own first. Like, whole people — what they have to contribute, what they have to offer," said Lopez.
"They save me," she added. 'Their love and loving them and them coming into my life really made me re-evaluate what I was doing with my life, and the relationships and the choices I was making in relationships sometimes."
