Jessica Simpson marries over Fourth of July weekend
Red, white and 'I do!' Jessica Simpson has married former NFL player Eric Johnson three and half years after becoming engaged. The couple tied the knot in Santa Barbara where they were surrounded by friends and family in a Fourth of July themed weekend.
Married on Saturday July 5 at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, Simpson and Johnson spent the weekend celebrating love and Independence Day. They didn't want their guests to miss out on the patriotic holiday and they certainly did not.
In a BBQ styled rehearsal dinner, a lavish pre-wedding party was hosted by the couple with American flags flying over blue and white striped tents. Guests feasted on southern traditions like beef brisket, baby back ribs, fried chicken, grilled shrimp, mac and cheese and potato salad. Games were set up for the children as well as a photo booth, according to reports.
Fourth of July was also kicked off with some poolside sunbathing where the bride was pictured catching some rays. Johnson reportedly took part in a round of golf with his buds at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara before the celebrations commenced.
As for the big say, reports of Simpson's untraditional wedding dress have been swirling and we're excited to see the first pictures of the bride who is a fashion designer in her own right. Plus with a full year since giving birth to prepare for her nuptials, we've already seen Simpson's killer bod that is wedding day ready.
Of the 250 guests were Simpson's younger sister Ashlee and her fiancé Evan Ross, though it is reported that Diana Ross didn't make the cut. Other A-list guests include Simpson's BFF CaCee Cobb and husband Donald Faison. Jessica Alba also said that her and husband Cash Warren would be celebrating the Fourth at a wedding this weekend.
Simpson's father Joe reportedly officiated the wedding and the couple's 1-year-old son Ace served as ring bearer. Their 2-year-old daughter Maxwell walked down the aisle as flower girl - cute! - and Ashlee's 5-year-old son Bronx Wentz walked alongside Maxi.
The vows between the two were reportedly emotional, as Johnson choked up during his and Simpson was so anxious she said her name instead of Eric! The 33-year-old bride was able to laugh the wedding jitters away and start again.
The two gave a statement to People about their nuptials, saying "We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment. To say 'I do' in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives."
Congratulations to the gorgeous couple!
