John Krasinski and Jimmy Fallon have teamed up for what may be the most ridiculous idea for a TV show ever, Lip Sync Battle. The name pretty much says it all - celebs will lip sync battle it out on the show with plenty of antics up their sleeves.
The lip syncing segments on Fallon’s late-night show are known to be epic. Krasinski himself went viral (and melted hearts) singing Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and Boys II Men's "I'll Make Love To You." Lip Sync Battle takes the ridiculousness up several notches.
LL Cool J hosts the new show, and the always-stunning model Chrissy Teigen will provide commentary on the performances.
The newly released trailer for the show inspires some serious giggles. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson does the pogo to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” In one shot, Krasinski tears off his suit to reveal a sparkly silver dress while belting out Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.” Fallon himself dons a priest’s garb with an entire choir backing him for Madonna’s “Like A Prayer.”
Malin Akerman, Anna Hendrick and John Legend are also featured in the star-studded trailer. Legend appears to be dressed like MC Hammer, complete with gold chains and Hammer-style pants.
Expect surprising cameos, (J. Lo, anyone?) and full-on music video style choreography. The show will have two celebrities performing two songs on an episode, with the audience deciding the winner.
We vote for getting T. Swift on the show to fake belt out some diva-worthy songs. “Respect” by Aretha Franklin? Or “Diva” by Beyoncé, would be perfect choices.
Make sure to watch the trailer below and set your DVR now. The show premieres on Spike TV on April 2.
