At 25 years of age, Kevin Durant has made his mark in the National Basketball Association. Having been drafted to the NBA after only a year of playing college basketball, his seven year basketball career is remarkable. A star player on the OKC Thunder who are the No. 2 seed in the 2014 NBA Playoffs, it’s was no surprise to basketball fans, players and his teammates alike that he would win the MVP.
Durant took the stage to accept the NBA’s MVP Award for the 2013-14 season while his teary eyed mom on looked.
Durant began to tear as he looked at his mother and told her: “We weren’t supposed to be here. You made us believe. You kept us off the street. You put clothes on our back and food on the table. When you didn’t eat, you made sure we ate. You went to sleep hungry. You sacrificed for us. You're the real MVP.”
He also thanked his teammates who he said he sees everyday but never gets the chance to tell them "thank you and I appreciate you."
Congrats to Kevin Durant on his MVP award!
