Kim Kardashian has always been known for her wardrobe - whether it’s the lack thereof (Paper Magazine), cleaning out Paris Hilton’s closet in the beginning stages of her career, or now-husband Kanye raiding her closet and offering fashion tips.
The reality star’s style has evolved from girl next door (sort of) to fashion icon. And it doesn’t hurt that she has befriended the world’s most elite designers.
Husband Kanye West has no doubt been a significant part of that transformation. And not just recently when the two were photographed in matching neutral colors along with their adorable daughter North - also matching.
Even back in 2012 shortly after Kim’s publicized divorce from Kris Humphries, Kanye was lending a hand in Kim’s closet. In a throwback clip from 2012, the ever-shy Kanye is seen inserting his expertise tips while helping his future wife clean out her closet in a segment from Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Kanye must have the magic touch. Since the 2012 revamping of Kim’s wardrobe, she has appeared on the cover of Paper, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, L’Officiel Hommes (in a sultry pose with her man), and most importantly Vogue.
Not only was the Vogue cover one of the most talked about magazine covers of all time - partly because there is rarely a man on the cover (Kanye). But even more, people were still not recognizing Kim as a style icon. Deemed as a reality star princess, Kim’s role in the fashion world has only recently been acknowledged.
Everything in Keeping Up With the Kardashians changes so quickly that this 2012 clip seems vintage. However, it was only two years ago when Kim was saving a purse for her daughter-to-be.
Fast forward two years later... We see Kim and Kanye married in an elaborate Italian ceremony surrounded by the company of the world’s most renowned designers. Their pre-wedding brunch was held at Valentino Garavani’s Paris mansion and was hosted by Valentino himself. Anna Wintour had a say in naming Kimye’s daughter, and Lorraine Schwartz is often babysitting North at the zoo.
Kendall Jenner, known professionally as "Kendall," is following close behind Kim in the fashion world. The 19-year-old had a breakout year in the industry as she walked down the runway of nearly a dozen shows for New York Fashion Week this fall. Her best shows included Diane von Furstenberg, Chanel, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Was Kanye’s closet raid the beginning of this fashion chaos? We’re thinking yes. Also, we’re sure that Kim did save that purse for North. North knows her purses. In fact, the toddler with the help of her dad, has hand-painted two Birkin bags for mom, Kim.
What’s next for the couple and little one - dubbed Fashion's First Family? We will seriously never be able to predict that one, but whatever they’re doing, they’ll look good doing it.
