Kim Kardashian opens up about raising a biracial daughter.
While Kardashian has dominated reality TV for the last decade, there are very few controversial topics that she has decided to speak on publicly. Yet in a blog post she wrote on May 7, Kim Kardashian revealed racism fears for North West. Kardashian confessed that while her fiancé and father of her only child, “Clique” rapper Kanye West, is extremely eager to call out racism, it’s not something she has ever considered to be an issue...until she became North West’s mom.
“To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else’s battle."
She went on to add that her recent encounters with racism have sparked a passion within her to take action for the first time. Kardashian not only revealed her past decision to look the other way, she let her fans know that she will be changing her perception from now on.
“I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don’t have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation. I want my daughter growing up in a world where love for one another is the most important thing. So the first step I’m taking is to stop pretending like this isn’t my issue or my problem, because it is, it’s everyone’s.”
