My name is Kimberly Danger and I’ve been writing about frugal living over at Mommysavers.com for over eleven years. In internet years, that’s a LONG time! I launched my site in March 2000 when I was on maternity leave after having my first child. Money was tight, and I looked to the internet for advice and support as a new mom and a new single-income family. I found that I wasn’t alone, and Mommysavers became my refuge and support system as well as my at-home project.
I started the site by writing about my own money-saving techniques and sharing the deals I had found. Others responded to what I was writing, which is how the discussion forums came about. I wanted to create a place on the site to give others a voice as well. Today, Mommysavers has an active community with over 70,000 registered members. Moms get together to share deals, money-saving advice, and chat about family life. Over the years there has been our share of online drama and fallout, but also lots of love and support. I’m proud of the fact that so many of our members have become friends in “real life” – myself included. I’ve met dozens of our members in person and become a personal friend to many.
In 2005, I wrote my first book, 1000 Best Baby Bargains. That opened up a whole new world of TV, radio and speaking appearances. Since then, I’ve appeared on over 100 regional TV segments sharing my tips on saving money and frugal living. In 2010, I had two more books published: Instant Bargains: 600+ Ways to Shrink Your Grocery Bills and Eat Well for Less and The Complete Book of Baby Bargains: 1000 Best Ways to Save Money Every Day. I’ve also had the pleasure of representing brands such as Uniroyal Tire, Coupons.com, Sprint Mobile, Tide and Kmart in value-messaging campaigns.
We’re not just a forum-driven site. The Mommysavers blog was launched in 2010, and provides our readers with information on the latest deals, coupons, and in-store bargains every day. In 2011, I launched another blog, Targetsavers.com. It’s a fun place where I get to share my finds from one of my favorite stores. I have plans to launch even more blogs in 2012.
When I’m not online, I enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, photography. I’d also call myself a reluctant gardener. My “brown thumb” is getting greener and greener every day. I live in Southern Minnesota with my husband and two kids.
