Lauren Conrad, also known as the millennial Martha Stewart, made a bold announcement on her website this Monday. Going forward you will no longer be seeing the word "skinny" on LaurenConrad.com, unless it's referring to a pair of jeans.
Conrad and her editorial team will also be giving the axe to similar words like "slim" and "thin" as they view them to be body-shaming language. With swimsuit season just around the corner, the site decided now is the perfect time to cut the words out of their vocabulary.
Conrad explained their decision in a blog post, writing, "We want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale. Every body is created differently—and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes. "
Going forward, the site plans to use words like “fit,” “toned” and “healthy” in their fitness content.
It's an awesome move from the lifestyle brand and we're happy to see Lauren and co. doing their part to promote a healthy self-esteem to go along with a healthy lifestyle.
