Yes, that's right. You can actually learn life lessons from your pet gold fish. To some, Nemo may just look like a simple pet. There is no fetching. No rubbing of bellies. And definitely, no long walks. But that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to be learned from being a fish owner.
Here are a few lessons fish lovers have picked up while hanging with these wet pets.
1. Life is more colorful with friends!
Fish often swim in "schools," and for good reason! It helps keep them safe and we're sure it's good company. Even when you feel like your schedule is extra hectic, make time to hang out with your friends even for lunch or coffee. Studies show that frequent socialization makes you happier and helps you live longer!
2. NEVER stop swimming.
When you're feeling down, make sure to "just keep swimming" - keep your head high and keep going! Things will get better, although it might not seem like it at the moment. Have you heard that saying that things are usually darkest right before the light? Trust in yourself.
3. Social hierarchies are always changing.
You've probably heard the term " big fish in a small pond." Among fish, size does matter to a certain extent, but social hierarchies are constantly changing in a tank! If you are dissatisfied at work or at school, do something about it instead of resigning yourself that that's just the way things are. You're never stuck!
4. The shiny choice is not always the best choice.
In other words, don't judge a book by its cover. You might be in for an ugly surprise!
5. Life is better if you've got a few tricks up your sleeve.
