For the final time of 2015, the people of New York City packed the streets, smartphones firmly in hand, to catch a glimpse of Manhattanhenge, a phenomenon where the sun perfectly aligns itself with the city's east-west street grid.
The term was coined by Hayden Planetarium Director Neil DeGrasse Tyson who likened the event to the ancient structure of Stonehenge.
