Without viewing this inspiring video, you probably had no idea that most girls in Chad, Africa - about 70 percent - marry before their 18th birthday. And for these young girls, most are more likely to die in childbirth than attend high school. It’s a startling truth for these young girls of Chad but with the help of you and UNICEF, that could all change.

Watch this emotional video that shows the chain reaction of what happens when young girls are married as children. And most inspiringly, what happens if they choose education instead.

If the education systems in Chad can be improved, the lives of young girls will be improved as well. Global Citizen says that for every additional year of education that a girl receives, her earnings will increase by 10 to 20 percent. That will reduce her need to marry for financial stability and will improve the community as a whole.

Global Citizen has partnered with the United Nations Population Fund to create #ShowYourSelfie. Get involved in this global petition to promote the rights of young people. Post a selfie on your Instagram or Twitter while holding up a sign that says, "#Idont" and hashtag it with #showyourselfie.
