Australian morning show host and known prankster Karl Stefanovic has pulled off his biggest prank yet... wearing the same suit on air for one year straight.
This particular prank had a purpose though - to showcase the sexism that his co-host Lisa Wilkinson faces daily, simply based on her appearance and fashion choices.
In the 365-days straight that Stefanovic wore the same navy blue, knock-off Burberry suit, not once did he receive a complaint or even an acknowledgement of his unchanging wardrobe. Meanwhile, Wilkinson found her email inbox full of complaints about her outfits daily, one emailer even suggesting that she "Get some style."
"I'm judged on my interviews, my appalling sense of humour –- on how I do my job, basically. Whereas women are quite often judged on what they're wearing or how their hair is," Stefanovic told Fairfax Media about the unfair treatment his female co-hosts face.
This double standard is an interesting one. When talking about the prank (or perhaps more accurately, social experiment) on Today, Wilkinson revealed that although she receives a lot of encouragement and support from her fellow women, more often than not, the criticism she receives about her appearance comes from them also. When Stefanovic asked her what this means in terms of sexism, she responded that she doesn't know.
So what do you think? Do women judge each others appearances too harshly?
