In honor of the upcoming holiday, we've asked our contributors to share what makes them feel lucky. Beauty blogger Lauren Depass (Popcorn And Daydreams) shares her version of #myluckycharms today...
We are fast approaching St Patricks Day and it's time to sit back and think about the things in life that make us feel as though we've just picked a four leaf clover.
I have many things to be thankful for, my family, my friends, I have a roof over my head and a job that pays my bills but the one person in my life that makes me feel like the luckiest women in the world everyday is my partner.
We met almost 4 years ago in an English country pub in the south of England and as soon as our eyes met, you almost heard it out loud - CLICK! We sat up all night in an empty pub (I lived there btw - we didn't just hide in the corner until the doors closed) spoke about our lives, waltzed to the way you look tonight and shared our first kiss on the bar - every girls fairytale.
I was still at university, in my last year. He was working and living locally. In the beginning he told me I was stunning, that he'd hadn't been this happy in a long time and it was all down to me as we laid below the stars. And with a start like that you'd think it couldn't get much better right? WRONG.
Our relationship progressed quickly and within no time were not only lovers but we had become best friends. After university, I had planned to move back to the north of England but something in my gut told me, I should stay and that I wouldn't regret it.
Fast forward three years and seven months, add in an apartment and two hamsters and he still has this power, an overwhelming power to warm my heart and make me feel as though everything will be okay. The world could be falling down around us and I wouldn't care, as long as I had his hand in my hand (I know right, very cheesy but it's true.)
It's very hard, especially in this day and age to find someone who supports and encourages you everyday, and inspires you to become a better version of yourself. No matter what life throws at him, he fights back and come out of the other end stronger than ever.
Now, I won't sit here and say that our relationship is completely perfect, that would take two perfect people and perfect people we are not. We will argue, we will have our disagreements and sometimes we need our own space but we are all human, and we all have our own flaws but I have found that one special person who is willing to accept me for who I am and I will always accept him for who he is.
It doesn't matter if we sit in front of the telly binge watching American horror story with a cheap Chinese takeaway or if we fly away to Barcelona for the weekend. Every moment with him I cherish.
I still wake up everyday, turn over and take one look at his messy bed hair and all I can do is smile and think How did I get here? How did I get so LUCKY?
